🪶Christine de Pizan – A Timeless Tribute in Thread 🪡
Today I couldn’t resist showing you a very special design paying tribute to Christine de Pizan✨
As those who read my previous post will know (and if you haven’t yet, I encourage you to do so now!), Christine was a 15th-century writer and philosopher, considered one of the first women to earn a living from her literary work.
I’m planning to create another design soon based on her main work, The Book of the City of Ladies, but I came across this beautiful illuminated miniature, by an unknown artist, from the late Gothic period. I fell in love with its rich, elegant colors and intricate details, so I simply couldn’t resist adapting it to bring her legacy into the present and preserve it on fabric in the form of cross stitch.
The image shows Christine working at her desk, surrounded by books and detailed Gothic architecture (pointed arches, bookshelves) evoking an aristocratic library.
Here are the pattern details:
📏 Size: 189 x 127 stitches (34.3 x 23.2 cm on 14-count Aida), 35 colours needed.
